June 3, 2026 — Peter 2:24

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”1

Peter 2:24

Takeaway

Christ did not die to make you feel better about your sin—he died to end your slavery to it. He bore the weight of every sin you've committed, every shame you carry, every wound you've inflicted. The cross was not a transaction to keep you comfortable in your old life; it was an execution of your old self so that a new life, oriented toward righteousness, could begin. By his wounds—his broken body, his spilled blood—you are healed not just spiritually, but made whole enough to actually turn away from what was killing you.

Application

Name one sin or pattern you've been trying to manage on your own—the thing you confess but never seem to leave. Stop managing it today. Bring it to the foot of the cross and say aloud: 'I cannot carry this alone. Jesus, you already bore this. I am giving it to you.' Then ask him what righteousness looks like in its place.
